It depends on what you mean by the pursuit of technical innovations. If this is about keeping an eye on devices that can really radically change your life for the better, then yes. Buy a Raspberry pi, an arduinka, dig into the topic of wireless technologies, read about neurointerfaces, try to assemble a primitive device using such technologies yourself, consider ideas for home automation and implement them, assemble a quadrocopter (not to buy) This will have a positive effect on the general level of education and erudition, and will give you ideas on how you can optimize your life.

And if you are talking about buying another new Apple product or some new TV with some slightly better parameters, then of course not, superfluous a waste of time, effort, nerves and money.

Yes, it seems to me that this is the future, to understand technology is like to understand fashion. In addition to my personal interest, I myself am an English teacher by education, so I follow the news, not only because I have to keep up with the times and be in the topic of student discussions, but also apply these novelties in teaching. By the way, Apple has Tuesdays for Teachers in stores, where they talk about new products, how to use them and how to apply them in teaching.

Personally, I am quite neutral about technology. On the one hand, they make us more isolated from other people, plus it is, after all, a way of manipulating others, a certain way of self-affirmation, perhaps even belittling others, they say, “I have an expensive iPhone, but you have an incomprehensible LG, for example”. On the other hand, this is a huge step towards development: so many opportunities for education and self-education, technology helps people with communication difficulties find a circle to their liking. In addition, the same smartwatch helps people with various diseases and disabilities to monitor their health, send reports to their doctors, and so on.

It seems to me that there is no need to chase technical innovations, because happiness and joy, generally speaking, are not in this, although Apple's marketers are very effectively trying to convince us otherwise. For $ 1000, you can buy a bunch of interesting experiences that will be more memorable and more important than the new icon design and the smell from the packaging. Go on a hike, go around all the standing bars in Moscow over the weekend, treating strangers, get yourself a huge tattoo on your back, fly to Tajikistan and get lost there in the mountains, finally.

Marketers are well aware of this, and the iPhone is often advertised as an indispensable companion for your adventures and important life events, but in reality, of course, it is not, you are the indispensable companion of your adventures. If something happened to you and you didn't photograph it, it happened anyway. And since we usually have a limited amount of resources, we often deny ourselves adventures, because we buy ourselves more and more new gadgets that we supposedly need so much.

This does not mean that you don't need to buy a new iPhone, but it is just sometimes useful to think: what if you want not an iPhone, but something else, something truly unique and unique. And for the sake of this present, the next generation of iPhones may well be skipped.

Although that is me. We must take it, of course.
