The statement is essentially unfounded - it's just a popular opinion, but not much supported, except for the personal feelings of some people.

In fact, there is no conspiracy theories, no planned obsolescence. There is simply competition between manufacturers that forces them to make more and more technologically sophisticated products, while keeping the price low because there are competitors who are willing to make cheaper.

This applies to everything from mobile phones to cars .

Why are modern cars BMW, VAG, and so on considered unreliable? Because the competition forces them to complicate their products, a bunch of electronics, an expensive controlled suspension, new re-engineered engines that provide both high power and low consumption along with environmental friendliness, 8-9 speed transmissions that allow you to squeeze the most out of them.

usual dough hitting. we generally live in a time of consumption. buyers have shifted the bar towards "buy buy buy. buy new. buy beautiful. buy glossy". manufacturers use this. hence the annual novelties of the iPhone (here, however, they take the novelty, like yours has not broken yet, but the new one is already cooler. Take it!). as for the poor quality. again, manufacturers know that they will buy / repair, because they SHOULD buy. CONSTANTLY. and deliberately produce low quality products. to break faster. to buy more often. hence the spoiled reputation of the German car industry, for example. Everything is getting cooler: more electronics, more bells and whistles. only the manufacturer does not say that you will be servicing this electronics three times a week, sitting at the company service station for a good part of the day. and. and leaving a good part of the salary there.

In addition to Alexandra Smirnova's answer, there is one more thing. Released, say, in '46, the car was planned as a car, which will be relevant in '76. But it turned out that the technique began to change too quickly. And now even a 20-year-old car differs not only in age, but also technically. Or at the price - what was cool "then" and was put on luxury cars is now put on the budget
