A very big difference between tablets and paper books. We are people - we love everything material and are arranged so that in parallel with the perception of visual information (text), we simultaneously perceive tactile information (flipping through a book).

You also smell a book, feel its weight. All this in a complex - gives you more anchors for perception and, most importantly, memorizing information! Therefore, I recommend reading the paper version of the book whenever possible.

Alternatively, use e-books with electronic ink technology - you will not get tired eyes, unlike tablets.

Regardless of the purpose of use - learning or something else, the tablet is just a tool.
If you are more comfortable using the tablet, rather than other tools, use. This is all individual and the pros and cons are also individual.

A tablet is definitely a very convenient thing:
+ Takes up less space
+ Less weight
+ User-friendly interface
+ You can "google" an incomprehensible part and figure it out "on the spot
+ You can read in poor lighting (or lack thereof, remember that this is not useful)
- If the charge is down, then everything
- Eyes may hurt / get tired

But, of course, you shouldn't forget, that the bonus "You can read without light (in the dark, at night)" is sometimes more a minus than a plus.
In addition, sometimes the tablet (as well as some books) get very tired of the eyes (eyesight sits down, etc.) etc.), so sometimes it makes sense to give your eyes a rest.
