Internet fraud
Unfair employers

A translation services company is interested in my resume on hh. They offered remote work - payment for the made transfers is made through a certain personal account; to start it, they demanded: a selfie with a sheet of paper and the current date on it; passport photo (moreover, with registration) and card number (indicated an empty card, which I do not use). I know it was stupid, but you can't go back time. Can you please tell me what, firstly, the consequences may be, and secondly, what do I need to do now? Should I go to the police? Of course, I sent them a letter asking them to delete my data from their database, but you understand ...

In this situation, one can only hope that this employer still uses them for their intended purpose, and not in some criminal scheme.

If you are very worried and there are fears that they may be used it is illegal for this photo and the data provided, that make the procedure for restoring a passport if it is lost, recognize that passport as invalid and no longer send your data to unverified persons.

You can read the article about the danger of taking a selfie with a passport in your hand.

I saw an article on T-J where a freelance girl talked about different methods of fraud, there was a method, including the one you described.
4 credits were taken for her passport.

I am not an expert in such matters and I would like to help you. What would I do
1. Check this company through https://egrul.nalog.ru/index.html - whether it exists at all or not.
2. Write to Hh.ru support with a description of the situation and that you suspect fraud.
3. Request a statement from the Credit History Bureau. This can be done free of charge through state services https://www.gosuslugi.ru/help/news/2018_11_27_credit_history
4. If you find loans, write a statement to the bank that you did not take it.
5. Write a report to the police about fraud.
6. Break through all contacts of a given legal entity via the Internet - name, email, phone. If some other similar stories with passports come up, go to write a statement to the police faster.
7. If you sent a letter with a request to remove your pension data from the database, but did not receive an answer, you can contact the prosecutor's office with a statement about the fact of violation of the law on personal data. The prosecutor's office accepts all applications. The more facts you put in, the better. Please attach a screenshot of your e-mail too.

When sending documents or copies. I always recommend putting watermarks on the image.

That is, if we send a passport, right on the image we overlay in Photoshop or another program an inscription for hh.ru or for ooo rogaikopyta. Make the caption semi-transparent so that the main data can be seen.

It is better to place the caption so that it is visible, but does not interfere with the reading of the data in the document.

I have been using this method since 2001 when sending documents to different organizations.

The method is not complicated, but it significantly complicates the use of documents for other purposes.

Because you have to try to erase or cover up the inscription, and it will already be noticeable.
