At all new stations that were opened in 2015 - you can pay by cards at the box office:
And use contactless cards to pay for travel directly at the turnstile:
According to the promises, they will be gradually introduced at all stations during this year.
A similar option, as far as I know, is planned to be introduced by the metro in 2016.
It should be noted, however, that this project is complex both from the technical part (equipment with devices of all metro stations) and from the legal side: can you imagine what profits this innovation promises to the bank, which will become an aggregator of payments! Common sense dictates that it is necessary to carry out procurement procedures to select a supplier of equipment, a bank that serves payment in strict accordance with Law No. 223-FZ.
As far as I remember, in Kotelniki you can now pay by card both at the cash desk and at the machine. I distinctly remember the pinpads hanging near the checkout window. Civilization!
Because the management of the metro and the Department of Transport does not want to share a percentage of the profit with the acquiring bank, whose terminals will be installed.
