Similar developments are already underway (with varying success). Some robots are already in service (UAVs).
And what about the point in wars ...
There is no sense in war principle. and with the advent of robots, in my opinion, all wars will end, since this will become unprofitable from the point of view of the square root of all evil money.
A robot cannot harm a person or, by its inaction, allow a person to be harm done is the third law of robotics.
While robots are developed to the level of those used in manufacturing and those made by Boston Dynamics, this is difficult to talk about. Technology has already saved us a lot of things, and the meaning of wars does not depend on who will take direct part in them.
It is unlikely that we will wait for the terminators on the battlefield, but who knows. Maybe we will be partially replaced. There are already some exoskeletons, for example.
